British Telecom (BT Group) is one of the most renowned companies in the United Kingdom, as well as a leading global telecommunications company. Headquartered in London, BT is considered to be one of the world's oldest telecommunications companies and, for the last two decades, has repeatedly been recognized for its leadership role among transnational corporations in its sustainability or sustainable development efforts. Indeed, until dislodged from its position by Telefónica Spain in 2009, BT had been the leading telecommunications company on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) for eight consecutive years.
