Enrichment is the most commonly reported school provision for students identified as gifted. Despite this, enrichment remains a concept that is hard to define clearly. The term enrichment has been used to refer to curriculum as well as program delivery services. In the middle grades, enrichment is also defined and implemented in many ways. For some middle school settings, enrichment can take the form of extracurricular activities or school clubs; for other settings, enrichment might take the form of a pull-out class in which students work on individual pro jects; in still others, enrichment may inappropriately mean expanded assignments when a student demonstrates proficiency with designated goals or when the student completes assigned work.
