Latin America/South America, Gifted Education

The quest to identify and serve gifted students in Latin America and South America was initiated in the early 1970s. The most comprehensive resource available in this area is La educación de niños con talento en Iberoamérica (The Education of Gifted Children in Ibero-America). This significant work was published in 2004 by the Regional Office of Education of UNESCO for Latin America and Caribbean Countries. The report concludes, as noted later, that Hispanic America has undergone a trajectory similar to that of the United States:
