Christianity's Influence on Health in the Family

Family health has been of central importance to theology from the beginning of the Christian witness and through more than 2,000 years, as the Christian faith increasingly diversified into numerous denominations. During these years controversial positions have arisen on certain family health-related topics. While some controversies have been resolved, others have not. Remaining controversies in the context of family health appear to center on behavior related to sexuality. Specifically, these controversies include birth control decisions and options, views on abortion, and choices on the use of condoms to prevent HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases.
