Stanfield, John II

(b. 1951, Rome, New York). Ph.D., M.A. Sociology, Northwestern University; B.A. Sociology, California State University, Fresno.

Stanfield is Chair of the Department of African American and African Diaspora Studies at Indiana University. He has held faculty positions at a number of universities, including an appointment as Director of the University of California, Davis, Center for Urban Research and Policy Studies. While at Morehouse College, Stanfield was Avalon Professor, Chair of the Sociology Department, and Director of the Morehouse Research Institute.

Stanfield has influenced evaluation through his work on the epistemology and politics of cultural pluralistic evaluation. His edited books Race and Ethnicity in Research Methods (with R. M.
