Beta Test

A term used most frequently in software development, a beta test is the second phase of testing in which a sample of intended users tries out the product. Beta testing is often considered prerelease testing of a product. Beta versions of software are now distributed widely via the Internet to give the product a real-world test, as well as providing a preview of the release of a new or updated product. The term beta derives from the second letter of the Greek alphabet.
