National Institutes of Health (NIH)

The NIH is the steward of medical and behavioral research for the United States. It is an agency under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, with headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland, and the surrounding area. The NIH comprises the Office of the Director and 27 institutes and centers employing more than 18,000 people. The mission of the NIH is to uncover new knowledge that will lead to better health for all, and NIH works toward that mission by
