International Program in Development Evaluation Training (IPDET)

Founded in 2001, IPDET is a month-long summer program for executive training in development evaluation. It is cosponsored by Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario, and the World Bank. The impetus for the program originates in a growing global demand for professional evaluation of developmental policies, strategies, programs, and projects, especially those related to poverty reduction, social development, and governance. The first 2 weeks of the program offer an 80-hour core course on development evaluation. The second 2 weeks offer a set of technical workshops on a broad array of development evaluation topics. Combining the totals from the two programs in 2001 and 2002, more than 275 persons from 52 countries attended.
