International Development Research Centre (IDRC)

The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) is a public corporation created by the Canadian government to help communities in the developing world find solutions to social, economic, and environmental problems through research. Its in-house evaluation unit focuses on promoting evaluation as a planning and management tool, building capacity for evaluation, and assessing the use and impact of research for development. The IDRC is particularly sensitive to the need to redress the pervasive control of evaluation agendas by donor agencies. The IDRC's evaluation unit emphasizes working with the emerging evaluation associations in developing nations.
