Tunisia

Tunisia is a country in the center of North Africa. It has an area of 63,170 square miles and a population of approximately 10 million. The capital of the country is Tunis, a city located near the once powerful city of Carthage. Tunisia is bordered by Libya and Algeria and has a long Mediterranean shoreline to the north and east. Physically, the country is dominated by the Sahara to the south and low mountains surrounded by large agricultural areas in the north. Most of the population lives either near the coast or in the major northern agricultural areas. The south, though intermittently dotted with oases, is considerably less inhabited.
