Naval Postgraduate School

The Naval Postgraduate School (NPS), established and operated by the U.S. Navy, got a modest start at the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland, in 1909 and since 1951 has been located in Monterey, California. Beginning with 10 officer students and 2 navy instructors, the NPS has grown to a student body of more than 1,500 U.S. officers and government civilians and more than 250 military personnel from more than 60 other countries instructed by a faculty of 500 (90% civilian) professors, most of whom hold a PhD.
