Military Command Staffs

To manage the complicated nature of military organizations, the armed forces of the United States utilize a staff system to simplify the control of day-to-day operations. The modern command staff attempts to facilitate command and control by enabling a clear line of information, easing a commander’s decisionmaking process. To accomplish this, related tasks or duties are grouped together under a single administrator who then reports directly to the commanding officer. This compartmentalization ideally provides better advice and allows for a more efficient coordination of personnel, equipment, and other resources.
