Luttwak, Edward N.

Edward Nicolae Luttwak (1942– ) is an American military historian, national security consultant, and public intellectual, whose books and articles have been seminal in some instances and provocative in others. Born in Romania, he was educated at the London School of Economics and received a PhD in international relations from Johns Hopkins University. He is currently a senior associate (nonresident) at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C. He had a brief academic career as a lecturer at the University of Bath (the United Kingdom) and at Georgetown University after relocating to the United States.
