Command and General Staff College

The Command and General Staff College (CGSC) is a graduate school that functions as part of the Leader Development and Education organization at the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. The CGSC was founded in 1881 as the School of Application for Infantry and Cavalry and is composed of four individual schools that provide professional education for military officers, including some from foreign allied nations. The four schools that constitute the CGSC are the Command and General Staff School (CGSS), the School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS), the School for Command Preparation (SCP), and the School for Advanced Leadership and Tactics (SALT).
