Air Force One

With the exception of the White House, Air Force One is the most visible representation of the American presidency. It is the aircraft dedicated to transporting the president anywhere in the world at any time. Technically, Air Force One is the air traffic control call sign given to any U.S. Air Force plane transporting the president. When the president travels on non–air force aircraft, a call sign following the same naming convention such as Army One, Navy One, or Marine One is used. However, the moniker “Air Force One” most commonly refers to the two identical customized Boeing 747 airplanes, designated as SAM 28000 and SAM 29000 (Special Air Mission).
