In August 2010, the U.S. Air Force had a total force strength of 693,285. This included 336,317 in active duty (265,297 enlisted, 66,447 officers, 4,573 U.S. Air Force Academy cadets); 107,985 in the Air National Guard; 70,052 in the Air Force Reserve; and 178,931 civilians. The U.S. Air Force was a global force in 263 locations around the world, with nearly 30,000 deployed airmen providing key capabilities in direct support of combat operations. In Fiscal Year 2010, the U.S. Air Force total aircraft inventory was 5,493, with 1.37 million flying hours.
