U.S. Pacific Command

The U.S. Pacific Command (USPACOM) is one of six combatant commands of the U.S. military. It is composed of the U.S. Pacific Fleet, U.S. Pacific Air Forces, U.S. Army Pacific, and U.S. Marine Forces, Pacific. USPACOM’s area of responsibility (AOR) is the largest for any unified combatant command, stretching from the west coast of the United States to the western border of India and from Antarctica to the Arctic pole. The commander of USPACOM is the most senior American military official in the Pacific region and answers to the president of the United States through the office of the secretary of defense and the Joint Chiefs of Staff. USPACOM is headquartered in Hawaii and is currently headed by Admiral Samuel J. Locklear III.
