United Technologies Corporation

United Technologies Corporation is an international conglomerate that oversees a number of subsidiary companies. It is a major manufacturer of defense technologies, including missile systems and military helicopters. The most famous of the latter is the UN-60 Black Hawk. This entry will provide a brief overview of the corporation’s history and present its current role in the American defense industry.

Early Years

The company began in 1925, when Fred Rentschler founded the Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Company. The company served as one of the first to specialize in manufacture of engines specifically designed for aircraft builders.
