TRICARE (Military Health Plan)

TRICARE is the health care program of the Department of Defense (DOD) for active-duty members of the armed forces. It serves members of the army, navy, Marine Corps, air force, Coast Guard, Public Health Service, and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and includes activated National Guard and reserve members, their families, and survivors. In addition, it also offers the health care for retired service members and their families separately.

Summary of Programs

Based on the different statuses and needs of beneficiaries, TRICARE offers multiple health care plans. Active-duty service members and their families can receive medical treatment from military treatment facilities or a contracted civilian medical provider through TRICARE Prime without any fee or co-pay.
