Training, Coast Guard Officers

Coast Guard officer training primarily takes place at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, although there are a number of other avenues by which college-educated recruits can train to become commissioned officers. Around 75% of academy graduates earn technical degrees in various areas of study, such as engineering, sciences, or mathematics. The academy’s mission statement is as follows:
