Afghanistan

Afghanistan is located in South Central Asia, surrounded to the north by Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan, and to the east and south by Pakistan and Iran. Approximately the size of the state of Texas, it is a landlocked country containing significant mountain ranges, including the Hindu Kush, as well as steppe and plateau regions. As a result, climate and precipitation vary significantly, though much of the county is characterized by a continental climate, with hot summers and cold winters. Afghanistan has an estimated population of between 25 million and 30 million, composed of a number of different ethnic groups. The capital city is Kabul, with a population of approximately 3 million.
