Field accommodations provide members of the military the basic living necessities under temporary conditions in a field environment. Field accommodations supply the using military unit the capability to live and operate in an austere environment away from established bases and permanent stations. These temporary facilities are designed to be easily transported and erected and to be made operationally capable quickly, then to be repackaged and moved as the mission and combat situation dictate. Field accommodations can vary based on the size of the unit, the threat environment, the duration of the operation in which the unit is participating, and military service.
