Squad Leadership

The infantry squad is the basic working element of the U.S. military’s ground forces. It is the most versatile and widely utilized element in the U.S. military arsenal. At the squad level, forces are capable of effectively executing the fundamental tactic of fire and maneuver. Squad members and their leadership are capable of carrying out a variety of missions that include patrols, ambushes, and other prepared attacks. The leadership of the squad possesses an ever-expanding skill set that can be applied to the abstract nature of the modern battlefield. In essence, the leadership of the squad is replicated in every level of the hierarchy of military leadership.
