Since their introduction in the 1970s, video games have experienced a massive surge in popularity, rivaling the audiences for more traditional forms of media such as television and film. Video game players are a diverse group of individuals with representatives from nearly every demographic category. As the audiences and the presence of the medium expanded, aggressive video games began to garner the attention and concern of politicians, advocates, parents, and researchers. Aggressive games are considered games that include content related to physical altercations between characters and violence committed by characters.
