The powerful influence of celebrities has an important impact on public health both in the United States and globally. A number of health issues are currently addressed by prominent celebrities. The ubiquitous reach and proliferation of entertainment media has prompted a growing interest in how the daily consumption of entertainment affects public health. Health educators are faced with decisions about leveraging the potential benefits of celebrity endorsement of health beliefs and practices.
