Feminist Ethics
Feminist ethics aims to counter the traditional exclusion of women from participating in establishing the underlying assumptions, judgments, and emphases in the field of ethics. Women have not had a significant voice in discussing and questioning the presuppositions about who should make ethical decisions, about the kinds of reflection ethics should favor, or of the range of issues that can be considered to have ethical significance. This entry first describes the emergence of feminist ethics as a critical response to traditional masculine ethics and explores a selection of the diverse expressions of feminist ethics.
