Tuition Tax Credits

Tuition tax credits are a form of state income tax relief designed to provide tuition assistance for students choosing a private school alternative to their assigned public school. While similar to school vouchers in many respects, the funding and administration mechanisms of tuition tax credits distinguish them as a separate form of private school choice. There are two main types of tuition tax credit programs: (1) tax credit scholarships and (2) individual tax credits or deductions.
