International Assessments

International assessments of student performance provide student-level test score data across multiple countries, either across or within diverse world regions. Due to their significant value for informing policy and research and given the increasing ease of collecting and managing large-scale data, such assessments have grown in prominence over the past few years. Data are gathered using the same or similar questionnaires and tests to enable cross-national comparisons. They allow the identification and comparison of high- and low-performing education systems. Unlike data from national assessments, these data provide cross-national insights and the opportunity for education systems to learn from one another.
