Community Policing Consortium
The Community Policing Consortium (CPC) was developed in 1992 as part of an effort by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) to ensure local law enforcement agencies had the training and technical assistance they needed to carry out community policing initiatives. The Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office), created in 1994, along with the Regional Community Policing Institutes (RCPIs), created in 1997—both within the DOJ—created an infrastructure of knowledge and innovative training to support CPC’s hiring and technology programs.
