Lifelong Learning

Lifelong learning is an education trend that describes the engagement of adults in multiple educational opportunities across the life span. The learning opportunities can be formal or informal, but these adult learning practices are distinguished from childhood learning because they are intentional, voluntary, and under the control of the adult learner. In today's society, adults may choose to explore further educational opportunities for vocational and personal enrichment or may be driven to more learning in the face of vast economic competition. However, the pattern of embracing multiple learning opportunities throughout adult life is the key factor in defining the lifelong learner.
