Teacher Preparation for Diversity, History and Social Studies
This entry considers curriculum, pedagogy, and, briefly, the composition of the teaching force as topics relevant to teacher preparation for diversity in the fields of history and social studies. The goal of teacher preparation for diversity in these subjects is to produce educators who have the knowledge, skills, and attitudes essential for effective teaching of all students in the United States, now and in the future. The importance of diversifying the teaching force in history and social studies is discussed briefly at the end of this entry.
