Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) are related concepts that describe a variety of sexual orientations and gender identities. LGBT also references a human rights movement that gained momentum during the latter half of the 20th century and continues today worldwide, working to secure and protect the recognition and rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people.

Sexual orientation refers to a person's sexual attraction to people of the same or another sex. The terms lesbian, gay, and bisexual (LGB) indicate different sexual orientations. Specifically, lesbian women and gay men, also known as homosexual people, are people whose primary sexual attractions are toward others of their same sex.
