Gender equity refers to fairness or impartiality, including in education for females and males. In some cases, gender equity concerns equal treatment for females and males, but in others gender equity refers to equal outcomes, although treatments may be different for each gender. For many years, work in gender equity focused on seeking equality in treatment and outcomes for women and girls. In addition, much of the early work on gender equity was led by and has focused on the issues and concerns of White women and girls.
