Eric: The Education Resource Information Center

ERIC, located at http://www.eric.ed.gov, is one of the premier education information systems in the world. The primary mission of ERIC, a part of the U.S. Department of Education's National Library of Education, is to meet the education information needs of teachers, administrators, librarians, counselors, preservice teachers, parents, decision makers, education researchers, and practitioners in related fields. ERIC serves its constituents by providing an array of products, services, and systems for dissemination. These services and products are provided by:

  • Sixteen subject-specific clearinghouses that collect, abstract, and index education materials for the ERIC database; respond to requests for information in their subject-specific areas; and produce special publications on current research, programs, and practices.
