Enrollment status has varying meanings. It can refer to the student's basic association with the institution (as in whether or not he or she is an actively enrolled student), a graduate or alumnus of a degree or certificate program, or a student who has ceased attendance (not enrolled). It may refer to the student's admission status in a degree program: whether he or she is non–degree seeking (admitted for general study not leading to a degree), or conditionally or provisionally admitted to a degree program. A conditionally or provisionally admitted student is required to complete one or more terms of attendance at a specific level of academic performance, at which point the institution will formally admit the student to the degree program.
