An academic calendar refers to an institution's campus-wide schedule of events. Minimally, this includes when instruction/classes will begin and end each term, scheduled breaks from classes, mid-term and final exam days, and holidays observed by the institution. Special events and deadlines that students or faculty may need to meet may be included in the academic calendar to facilitate planning. Schedule is a term used more frequently in regards to a specific portion of the academic calendar, usually in reference to the schedule of classes offered during a term. The full academic calendar for the year is typically printed in the hard-copy version of the institution's catalog, and versions of the calendar will be found in the hard-copy schedule of classes produced for each term.
