Academic Advising

The goal of academic advising is to promote student growth by assisting students with the development of their academic and career goals. Academic advisers encourage student development by promoting effective decision-making skills, working with each student as an individual, implementing a holistic approach to advising, and providing each student with a balance of challenge and support during advising interactions. Academic advising can be one of the most influential collegiate experiences. Each student is provided with the opportunity to have a quality one-on-one interaction with a representative of the institution that, in the case of distance advising, can take place in a variety of venues.
