The global concern for disasters is growing, as are the efforts on providing effective, decision-support technologies for disaster recovery. Disaster recovery decision makers are often faced with challenges that prevent making well-informed decisions in a timely manner. These challenges can be summarized in the lack of coordination, systematic approaches and mechanisms, and appropriate decision-support tools and technologies. Technology, in particular geospatial technologies, have changed the way in which we acquire, process, analyze, communicate, interact with, and visualize disaster recovery information.
