Description of the Strategy

Children face problems every day, and some have more difficulties evaluating and coming up with viable solutions than others. Problem solving is a behavioral strategy that aids in the identification and definition of challenging situations, as well as the generation, selection, and activation of potentially effective responses. Clearly defining a problem situation and generating multiple solutions can enhance the likelihood that an effective response will emerge. Children with effective problem-solving skills are accepted by their peers, able to communicate effectively, and are cautious decision makers.
