Point System

A point system is a behavior change program that involves the delivery of points to a child for appropriate behaviors and the taking away of points for inappropriate behavior. The purpose of a point system is to strengthen desired behaviors that are not occurring frequently enough and to decrease the occurrence of behaviors that are undesirable. The points are delivered (or removed) immediately after the desired (or undesired) behavior occurs. The points are then traded or exchanged at some later point in time for rewards.
