Marshall, Consuelo Bland (1936-)
Born in Knoxville, Tennessee, Federal Judge Consuelo Bland Marshall grew up in Los Angeles, California. She attended Los Angeles City College and received her associate of arts degree in 1956 and went on to receive a bachelor of arts degree from Howard University in 1958 as well as her LL.B. in 1961. During this time, the lawyers and activists of the civil rights movement heavily influenced her. Her mentors included Albert Matthews and George Jones.
Marshall's career in law began when she became deputy city attorney for the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office in 1962. She stayed there until 1967, when she moved on to her own private practice. In 1971 she became the commissioner for the juvenile court and in 1976 a judge for the ...
