Approximately 39,000 children under 19 in England are living with a life-limiting condition that may require palliative care (Fraser et al., 2012), while 1.8 million children in Sub-Saharan Africa are living with HIV/AIDS, and between 7 and 20 million children worldwide require palliative support (Chambers et al., 2010).
