In this chapter we focus exclusively on the question of data collection in videography. Data collection, of course, forms part of a more encompassing research process we call videography. For questions concerning the problem of video analysis, which constitutes the second pillar of videography, the theoretical assumptions implied in the analysis of natural audiovisual data and the relation between empirical analysis and culture and society in general, we must refer the reader to other publications, particularly our book (Knoblauch et al., 2015).
