On July 17, 2015, at the summit of Mauna Kea, Hawaii, it snowed (Fox, 2015). This was unusual given the region's balmy climate. On February 17, 2016, Kanye West released a series of self-effacing Twitter posts acknowledging that ‘[every] rapper is somebody's favorite', and ‘a wise man should be humble enough to admit when he's wrong’ (Otterson, 2016). This was unusual given the pop star's normally arrogant, narcissistic demeanor. Just as the momentary weather can contrast with a region's climate, people's behavior at particular moments can contrast sharply with their typical dispositions.
