Perfectionism can be described as a compulsive striving for achieving extremely high standards, together with a tendency to fear making mistakes (Flett & Hewitt, 2002). Historically, perfectionism was viewed as inherently destructive and associated with physical problems, psychological disorders, and psychiatric conditions (Hewitt, Flett, & Mikail, 2017). However, this negative view of perfectionism has been challenged.
