Value-in-Use
Value-in-use refers to the value that emerges for customers during the consumption process. The term is central to quality management in the service economy, which emphasizes the customers’ role in value creation.
If one takes the position that value is created in use, the consequence is that value can never be built into an offering. This means that the potential value of an offering is not realized until a customer uses it. Two customers using a similar offering may value it completely differently. Historically, the perspective on value has evolved from value is created in production to value is created when an offering is used. In this entry, state-of-the-art knowledge on value is described and exemplified using theory and examples from practice.
