Strategic Quality Management
Strategic quality management (SQM) is the practice of an organization incorporating quality considerations and criteria into its vision, mission, and strategic plans and operating the organization according to those plans. The concept of SQM evolved within the quality movement and is an element of total quality management (TQM) philosophy and methods. In the TQM view, quality is equivalent to meeting customer expectations and requirements. Through SQM, an organization retains focus on the customer by including customer satisfaction into its vision and mission and creates strategies, objectives, and plans directed at meeting customer needs and requirements; the organization then manages its programs, projects, and daily operations to conform to these plans and objectives.
