Process Management
A process can simply be defined as a series of activities aimed at achieving a specific objective. Thus, we can define process management as the management and coordination of all the activities required in achieving an objective. An objective could be producing a physical product, providing a service, or completing a task, or a one-time unique operation (e.g., organizing an event, installing a new information system), or simply preparing a report. To achieve an objective requires at least one process; more often, a series of connected processes is needed. Given the complex nature of objectives—that is, products and services, increasing costs of inputs and transaction activities, and the ever-changing customer requirements—process management has become more important than ever to stay competitive.
