Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges
The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) has been engaged in accreditation for many decades in the states of the American South. The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) is an accrediting body for degree-granting institutions of higher education, including the distance education programs within these institutions. The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement became a separate organization for elementary and secondary schools and, along with two other regional accrediting organizations, is now part of the pre-K–12 accrediting organization AdvancED.
