Institutional Research
Research for the purpose of informed decision making within an institution of higher education is known as institutional research. As data experts, institutional researchers provide valuable insights by which to make decisions through the collection, processing, interpretation, and translation of data. Most colleges and universities in the United States have an institutional research office although the actual name of the office may vary from, for instance, Institutional Research and Assessment to Planning and Analysis. Regardless of the name, it is common for institutional research departments to provide decision support for many areas of the institution.
